If you´re a bit fussy about your coffee, then you´ll definitely feel at home in Malaga. The Spanish love the fragrant drink and you won´t be served a bad cup in the city. But, when you enter the café, it´s not just as simple as black or white; there´s a whole lot more to it than that!
Although the prospect of twenty different types of coffee might sound daunting, it means there is a style to suit every taste. Whether you like it deep and dark, short and sharp or light and creamy; we´re sure you´ll find something to satisfy your taste.
Use this list as a guide to help you order your perfect coffee in Malaga city:
Un Solo = Black Coffee
Un Semilargo = Strong Coffee
Un Largo = Extra Strong Coffee
Un Solo Corte = Expresso
Un Mitad = Half and Half
Un Entrecorto = Semi-Short
Un Corto = Short
Un Nube = Milky Coffee
Un Sombra = Stronger Milky Coffee
The entrecorto and semilargo and are least common and these terms are not recognised outside of Malaga.
This special terminology is said to have first been used at the Café Central in the Plaza de la Constitución,(at the end of Calle Larios) where they began to assign special terms for the ways to order coffee. It soon spread through the city and became the norm for all coffee lovers.
